Frida wears a modern interpretation of traditional Indigenous dress, anchored by a huipilli style shirt made in Zacatlán, Mexico. Her regalia reflects both heritage and the living, evolving nature of tradition. The feathers, once quetzal, are now pheasant, a thoughtful adaptation that keeps the practice in sync with the present environment while honoring its roots.

At her ankles, ayayotes, traditional seed rattles, accentuate and complement the rhythm of the drums during Danza. Their sound becomes part of the ceremony, the body itself an instrument in the dance.

For Frida, this attire is part of a journey of reconnection. As a person of Mexican and Ecuadorian heritage reclaiming her Indigenous roots, each element she wears is an act of remembrance and return.

This is more than regalia. It is a path back to ancestry, worn with intention and carried forward through movement, sound, and spirit.
