Faaya Adem

Faaya wears an Oromo aadaa dress and callee. Both come from the Oromo people of the Hararghe region of Oromia, in East Africa. The dress is made from sabbata fabric, a design specific to the Oromo. The callee is the beadwork and adornment that Oromo dress is known for.

Hararghe has long been a center of Oromo culture, and dress there marks identity, community, and where you belong. These garments are passed down and tie the wearer to earlier generations.
