Light + Shadows

A room at four o'clock looks different from the same room at noon. The light moved, and everything in it changed shape. Light + Shadows is an ongoing series about what light does to whatever it lands on.

These are studies. Each one looks hard at a single thing. Some are planned. Some I catch in passing: a shadow falling across skin, or a room that changes character because the sun shifted.

The series stays open. I add studies as I make them, and older ones fall away.

This one came out of architecture school. Learning to see meant learning to read light: what it does to a material, and how it changes the way a room feels. I turned that on a camera instead. The camera holds what the eye already caught.

There is more than one subject here. A hand in a stripe of afternoon sun sits next to a stairwell where the shadow cuts the geometry in half. People and buildings belong in the same series because light treats them the same way.

Some of these come from waiting. Some come from looking up at the right moment.
